Project 'One Bad Bull' is a 1980 Ford F100 step side build. Follow along to see the progress.
This project starts with a early 1980 F100 Custom. It was Custom because Ford allowed customers to select the options they wanted and the options they didn't. The pickup we are building was a bare bones truck. No A/C, No Power anything except the steering and a 3 speed standard with a 300 straight six.
Forgive my A-frame. It was only used once to lift the engine that you see in the bed.
The truck is in fairly good shape. Little rust other than the cab floor. We have purchased floor panels to weld in. We have also sourced a donor 83 F250 3/4 ton 4x4 for parts.
We are stripping this one down to the frame, shortening the frame 18 inches and placing the cab and bed on this shorter frame. This will keep us from having to fab suspension mounts on the 1/2 ton frame. They are similar in many ways but there are a few key differences. For example, the front leaf spring shackle mount on the frame has a dimple that the 1/2 ton frame does not have.
No Dimple
Dimple. (see the nut in the center of the photo)
We have made some progress on stripping the frame down and getting it ready for a rubberized coating and rust fix. see the gallery below. Enjoy.
